AIRBUS UK Broughton prevailed over a young Wrexham side, but needed a stoppage time goal to take the tie into extra-time. In a scrappy affair, home keeper Danny Ward made a fine save to deny Ian Sheridan on 24 minutes and the rebound was cleared off the line by Anthony Stephens. Ward was in action shortly after with a parry from Danny Desmormeaux's 20-yard volley. Wrexham who started the second half the brighter as Louis Moss went close from a corner, his effort being cleared off the line by a defender. Then with 66 minutes gone Rob Salathiel put the lively Moss clear and he finished with aplomb sliding the ball past Niki Lee-Bulmer Bulmer to give Wrexham the lead. Matty Owen went close to extending the lead with a fierce left foot shot from 25 yards. But, deep into stoppage time, a high ball into the Wrexham area saw Ward drop the ball under pressure and in the ensuing scramble Eddie Hope forced home the Airbus equaliser. Both sides pressed hard looking for the winner in extra-time and Rob Evans went close with a good run and shot for Wrexham. But, with 12 minutes, left Sheridan wriggled free in the area and set up Mark Allen to slot home the winner from close range. A late sending-off for skipper and former Airbus loanee Leon Clowes summed up the afternoon for the young Dragons.
