A GOAL from Carl Evans earned Afan Lido the local bragging rights over near neighbours Port Talbot and a place in the fourth round of the Welsh Cup. Evans headed home superbly from a corner taken by former Steelman Daniel Thomas and, in a tight contest, it proved to be sufficient to win the day. The hosts mounted waves of attacks in the second half with their main threat coming from Cortez Belle, who was well marshalled by Evans. Talbot's Martin Rose had a first half header cleared off the line and was narrowly wide with a left-foot shot. But poor service from the flanks denied Belle any clear cut opportunities to use his aerial power to advantage. "I'm delighted as defensively we were fantastic again and we are growing in maturity, stature and confidence week by week," said Lido manager Andy Dyer.
