by Chris Barney, Llanelli Star"A FANTASTIC manager, a great squad of players and a chance to win major silverware." Craig Moses explains the reasons why it took him just a second to accept a switch when Llanelli came calling this summer. Moses admits it wasn't a tough call to make when Reds boss Andy Legg called him up over the summer hoping to make the 21-year-old striker part of his title-challenging squad. From leading the attack at mid-table club Newtown, Moses has joined a team obsessed with winning back the Welsh Premier League title. And the part-time lifeguard could be just the breath of fresh air Llanelli need. Blessed with raw pace and strength, Moses adds further quality to a forward department that also includes captain Rhys Griffiths, exciting youngster Jordan Follows and fellow summer signing Craig Frater - who has joined from Manchester City's academy. Moses, who came off the bench in Llanelli's Europa League defeat by Motherwell, can't wait to get started. "When I was contacted in the summer I didn't consider it for more than a second," revealed Moses, who has won Wales Under-21s call-ups. "When a club and manager like that shows an interest in you it is very flattering. "I want to move onwards in my career and with a manager like Andy Legg and the squad of players here, I can do just that. "I believe they can get the best out of me and develop my game further. "It has been great during pre-season, but now I'm champing at the bit to play against Airbus on Sunday." Llanelli fans were given glimpses of Moses's talent during the club's friendly schedule, but his inclusion in Legg's starting XI could depend largely on what formation is chosen. Under past boss Peter Nicholas, Griffiths was utilised as a lone striker, but that could change under Legg, who will tinker his style and formation depending on the opposition. Moses would be a strong contender to partner Griffiths, while Follows and Frater are also pushing for places. And Moses insists the number of options available to Legg will help the Reds challenge for the title. "Playing alongside Rhys would be great for me as he is an exceptional player," said Moses, who lives in Brecon. "His record speaks for itself and he is a very respected player in the league. "But there are other options too and that is something which will help keep the strikers on their toes. "At Newtown I felt myself becoming a little complacent, but that won't happen at Llanelli. "Everyone is so hungry to play and that helps the club become successful. "I think we have the quality here to win the league and do well in the cup competitions too. "Going from a team in mid-table to one that is pushing on all fronts is something I have had to adjust to, but I thrive playing under that type of pressure." |
