TEN years into his battle with cancer, former Cardiff City footballer Andy Legg has spoken at his most candid yet about the fight, admitting: “One day, it could kill me.” In an honest and open account of his struggle with the disease, first diagnosed in 1999, the former Wales international has revealed how he was once given just 18 months to live, and how support from fans helped him through. But he has also told of his sickening treatment at the hands of some fans, who spat at him and sent him death threats because of his days at arch-rivals Swansea City.

LOOKING enviously at Manchester City's multi-million pound spending status is a former Llanelli star who has proved to be one of the most valuable assets at Stebonheath. Vic Gomersall is now Llanelli's dedicated commercial manager as well as being the bubbly personality making the public announcements, informing the fans of the teams and scores during home matches. His voice can also be heard loudly urging the Reds on, frequently providing much-needed humour in tense situations. If he could turn the clock back and start playing now at a club prepared to spend in the high millions for players, he would be a very wealthy man!

Druids blast Super 10 proposal |

NEWI Cefn Druids' secretary Mike Beech says his side's victory over Rhyl's "ageing pros" is proof the Welsh Premier League should not be split up to form a Super 10. Beech also hit out at the ambitions of the FA of Wales for the league's top clubs to make progress in European competition - saying clubs such as Rhyl, The New Saints and Llanelli are "a long way short of the pace" on the continent. The Ancients secretary's comments come amid plans to split the league into two divisions, with the top 10 clubs fighting it out each year for European qualification. |
