Mynydd Isa resign and fold
Saturday 16 May 2009
MYNYDD Isa have resigned from the Cymru Alliance and announced that the club is to be dissolved.
The news comes just days after Isa lost to Lex XI in the final of the NEWFA Challenge Cup at Wrexham's Racecourse Ground, following which manager Gareth Thomas was appointed to the vacant post at near neighbours Buckley Town.
The club was reported to be struggling financially earlier in the campaign and to have sought a merger with either the Bucks or Mold Alexandra.
Ironically, their fourth-place finish in the Alliance was the best-ever in the club's history.
Formed initially in 1931, Isa were promoted to the second tier of the pyramid in 2006.
Their decision to fold could be good news for Gresford Athletic, who finished third bottom in the league and were due to be relegated.
