| Buckley claim another Premier scalp |
| Friday 07 August 2009 |
AFTER beating Bangor City last weekend, Cymru Alliance outfit Buckley Town claimed another Welsh Premier scalp, beating Newtown 4-3 at Globe Way.The Robins trailed 3-0 shortly after the break thanks to a goal from Phil Molyneux, after first Joe Desormeaux and then Neil Wynne had put the Bucks two-nil ahead. Wynne's effort was a contender for a Christmas goalkeeping boobs DVD after sub keeper Ian Havard kicked the ball against the striker and then allowed it to run under his raised foot as he attempted to clear. But the visitors fought back with a fine individual effort from Neil Mitchell and another from TNS loanee Tom Jones, before ex-Nomads' youth Bohan Dixon got Buckley's fourth. Michael Collister then snatched another late consolation for Darren Ryan's side. Carmarthen Town were solid rather than spectacular in a 2-1 win at home to Welsh League Bridgend Town. New signing Mark Pritchard and striker Tim Hicks scored for the Old Gold, with Raith Plant replying for the visitors. Striker James McIntosh scored the only goal of the game as Airbus UK Broughton won 1-0 at newly-promoted Cymru Alliance outfit Bethesda Athletic. Gareth Henley's goal with a few minutes remaining gave Holywell Town a deserved draw at home to Elements Cefn Druids, who had taken the lead from a Lee Jones free-kick.
