DESPITE being reduced to nine-men, Flint Town United crushed Cymru Alliance title rivals Llangefni Town 5-1 at Cae-y-Castell. The Silkmen had Steffan Halewood and Johnny Hill dismissed seven minutes apart late in the first half. But Simon Thelwell completed a brace on 53 minutes with Shaun Beck, Paul Williams and sub Matthew Roberts completing the rout, Marc Evans scoring from the penalty spot for the visitors. Llandudno Town leap-frogged opponents Buckley Town into third place after a 2-0 win at Maesdu Park, with Lee Thomas scoring both goals, the second from the penalty spot. Holyhead Hotspur recovered from a midweek defeat to Anglesey rivals Llangefni by completing a double over Lex XI with a convincing 5-1 home win. Mike Edwards (2), Chris Saxon, Curt Williams and Mel McGuinness got the goals, with the Lawmen having Gavin Maloney sent off on the half hour for four and abusive language. Berriew also recovered a 5-1 win, away at Llanfairpwll, with a brace apiece for Will Thomas and Martin Ziemann, while Denbigh Town beat Bethesda 5-2 as Adie Hoyle and Gary Madoc-Jones both scored twice. Llangollen defeated Guilsfield 2-0, while fifth-placed Penrhyncoch drew 0-0 at Ruthin Town. |
