Flint claim league cup final spot
Wednesday 21 April 2010
FLINT Town United reached the final of the Cymru Alliance League Cup with a 3-0 win over Bethesda Athletic.
The Silkmen took a 22nd-minute lead through a Sean Beck free-kick and John Hill thought he had doubled the advantage when he headed home from a corner only for the effort to be ruled offside.
A goalkeeping error gifted the second goal and Alan Dawson sealed Flint's place with two minutes remaining after good work from Mike Thelwell.
Their final opponents are Llandudno, who consolidated third place in the league after a 3-1 home win against Llanfairpwll with goals from Dylan Jones, Gareth Evans and Lee Thomas.
Lex XI and Guilsfield shared six goals at Stansty Park with both sides ending the game with 10-men.
Martin Platt, a Sean Dodd penalty and Asa Hamilton put the Lawmen 3-1 up, but Richard Astley and a late Jack Parr goal gained the Guils a share of the spoils.
Llangollen Town won 3-0 at Ruthin in the night's other game with goals from ex-Ruthin player Gary Ellison, Jon Taylor and Simon Hulse.
