Llangefni clinch the Alliance title
Sunday 25 April 2010
LLANGEFNI Town clinched the Cymru Alliance crown with a game to spare, following a 2-0 home win over Penrhyncoch and must now await their licence appeal to see whether they will return to the Welsh Premier next season.
The Anglesey outfit scored goals in each half through Chris Williams while runners-up Flint were keeping the pressure on their rivals by winning 4-1 at Llangollen Town's Tower Fields.
The hosts led through a Richard Jones goal at half-time but crumbled after being reduced to 10-men as the Silkmen replied through Paul Williams, Shaun Beck, Kevin Leech and Mike Thelwell.
Third placed Llandudno Town ended with nine men as they slumped 2-1 at home to Guilsfield.
Lee Thomas put the Maesdu Park outfit ahead, but Ross Frame levelled from the penalty spot and the Villagers snatched the winner through Stuart Buckley-Robins a minute from time.
