| Llangefni planning artificial pitch |
| Saturday 19 June 2010 |
LLANGEFNI Town are planning to install an artificial pitch, it was revealed today. The only remaining Anglesey club in the Cymru Alliance following the re-organisation of the pyramid, Cefni proposed a rule change at the league's AGM in Gresford on Saturday to allow the use of FIFA-approved 3G pitches, similar to the one already in use by The New Saints in the Welsh Premier. Proposing the change, which was accepted unanimously, Russ Austin said the artificial pitch would provide a community facility at the club's Talwrn Road ground. After threatening a revolt over accepting the six relegated Welsh Premier clubs into the league, Bethesda Athletic failed to turn up and there was no discussion as the league's membership for next season was confirmed. Caersws, Cefn Druids, Connah's Quay, Porthmadog, Rhyl and Welshpool drop down from the Welsh Premier with Rhayader Town, Rhos Aelwyd and Rhydymwyn all promoted. The seven surviving clubs from last season are Llangefni, Flint Town United, Llandudno, Buckley Town, Penrhyncoch, Guilsfield and Ruthin Town. Darren Thomas of Llangefni won the player of the season award, while Mike Barton of Guilsfield is the league's manager of the season.
