Nomads and Rhyl set hot pace

Stuart RuddCONNAH'S Quay and Rhyl continue to set a hot pace at the top of the Huws Gray Alliance, both maintaining a 100% record.
Nomads are top on goal difference after winning 2-1 at Guilsfield, while Rhyl were 3-0 winners at fellow relegated Welsh Premier outfit Porthmadog, who are bottom of the table and still winless after four games.
Tom Baker got ther Quay winner from the penalty spot in the 76th-minute at the Guilsfield Recreation Ground after Tom Kelly had handled.
A crowd of 284 at The Traeth watched Andrew Pearson give the Lilywhites a 58th-minute lead with a simple far post tap-in following a Gareth Owen free-kick. And the visitors added two more late-on through Rhys Darlington and Stuart Rudd (pictured) as Port chased an equaliser.
Cefn Druids christened their new stadium at The Rock with a 4-2 victory over Penrhyncoch in front of 278 spectators. Richard Williams-Cooke led the way with a brace for the Ancients, with Mark Harris and Chris Melia also scoring.
But the Ceridigion visitors ended the contest with eight men after the dismissals of Tony Jones, Elwyn Edwards and Cledan Davies, who was making his debut following a loan move from Aberystwyth Town.
Two more of the last season's Welsh Premier clubs also recorded victories, Caersws beating Rhydymwyn 2-0 at the Recreation Ground and Welshpool winning 3-2 away at Rhayader Town's Wierglodd.
Rhos Aelwyd's Steve Walters is the league's manager of the month for August and the new boys are still unbeaten, moving into third place after a 1-0 win at Ruthin Town.
Flint overpowered Buckley Town 4-1 at Cae-y-Castell, while reigning champions Llangefni Town gained their first win of the season, 4-1 away at Llandudno. Darren Thomas with a brace, Darren Gowans and Ywain Gwynedd were Cefni's scorers.
