RHYL are the first club into the third round of the Welsh Cup after beating Llandudno 2-1 at Belle Vue on Friday night. John Toner set-up the first goal early in the second half for Lee Jones, whose deflected shot beat former Rhyl keeper Paul Whitfield at his near post. Toner also had a hand in the second Lillies' goal on 75 mniutes for Gareth Owen, who found the back of the net with a curling shot from the edge of the box. But visiting keeper Anthony Costa was beaten late-on by Rob Williams and then made a crucial save in the dying moments to send Rhyl through. |
