Barton signs seven for Welshpool
Thursday 21 October 2010
Callum WrightNEW Welshpool boss Mike Barton has brought-in no less than seven new players as he seeks to revive the fortunes of the Maesydre outfit.
"This is a big job and we needed to make signings," says Barton.
"We are on minus 11 points and firmly adrift at the foot of the table, but I am confident that with a few wins under our belts that we can survive the drop this season."
The new arrivals include 21-year-old ex-Newtown midfielder Callum Wright (pictured), James Neill from Spar Mid Wales League Division Two side Four Crosses, and former Caersws midfielder Jimmy Haynes, who has joined from Market Drayton Town.
Former Newtown and Caersws defender Dan Dawson has signed from Bishops Castle and Barton has also taken ex-Robin Andrew Webb from Ellesmere Rangers.
"It was clear from the start that we have had, that some of the players were simply not good enough, so I have been backed to bring in some new players," added Barton.
"However I must stress that there is some potential in the existing squad and I have been greatly encouraged by the lads’ dedication and attitude since I arrived."
