| Waynne in charge after Walters quits |
| Friday 22 October 2010 |
WAYNNE Phillips is in temporary charge at Rhos Aelwyd after Steve Walters (pictured) decided to take a break as manager of the Huws Gray Alliance outfit after four seasons in charge."I am pleased to be able to help the club, they have been good to me," says Phillips. "I was a 39-year-old coming out of Cefn Druids and they gave me a chance, I owe it to them to help and give them a little more time to sort things out." But Phillips, who managed Caernarfon and Cefn Druids in the Welsh Premier, says the arrangement is only temporary. "My wife made the decision for me when she said 'don't you dare' - you never say never but, at the moment, I am not looking to get back into management and I would have to say I am not interested." Walters, 39, made 53 Welsh Premier appearances for Rhyl as a midfielder between 2002 and 2004 and was part of the Lilywhites' side that won the treble. He was named as the Alliance manager of the month for August after an excellent start by the Wrexham club, who are currently sixth in the table in their first season since promotion back from the Wrexham Area National League with four wins from seven games. Walters' future is unclear but there is a possibility he could return to the helm in the future. |
