| Defender Beattie returns to the Druids |
| Saturday 01 January 2011 |
CEFN Druids have signalled their intention of making a strong bid for a return from the Huws Gray Alliance to the Welsh Premier by signing defender Martin Beattie from Colwyn Bay.The 27-year-old returns to the club where he started his Welsh Premier career in 2004, making 11 starts for the Ancients before signing for Bangor City. Beattie went on to 90 (+11) appearances for the Citizens, before joining Welshpool in 2009, where he was virtually ever-present in the Lilywhites' last season in the top flight. Beattie, who joined the Seagulls last August and has also played for West Kirby and Nantwich Town, is the second new arrival at The Rock, with manager Huw Griffiths capturing striker Luke Powell from Aberystwyth Town last week. "Getting Martin is a massive signing for us. I am delighted to get him especially as he turned down Rhyl to come to us," says Griffiths. "He is a quality player who has Welsh Premier League class written all over him. "He is a bit of experience for our back four and it shows the intent that we have for the rest of the season." |
