GAP Connah's Quay maintained their one point lead at the top of the Huws Gray Alliance, but they were forced to fight back from a goal down to overcome Guilsfield 2-1 at the Deeside Stadium.Rob Cookson put the village side ahead in the 19th-minute, with a Gary O'Toole brace either side of the break securing the spoils for the Nomads. Rhyl stay second, one point behind, after a 1-0 win over Porthmadog at Belle Vue thanks to an early goal from Chris Williams, but had goal scorer Williams comtroversially sent-off. Referee Gareth Jones was later the centre of attention when mistakenly sending-off Rhys Roberts, thinking he had issued a second yellow, but the red card was withdrawn after a furore. But Cefn Druids lost ground on the leaders after a 2-1 defeat at Penrhyncoch, in which Mark Egan and Stuart Fraser scored the goals. Rhos Aelwyd jumped to fifth with a Mike Burke brace in a 2-1 home success against Ruthin, leapfrogging Flint who were dumped 3-0 at Buckley, Phil Molyneux also scoring twice. A much-changed Welshpool line-up enjoyed a rare success, 2-0 over Rhayader, thanks to goals from new signings Chris Melia and Danny Davies, but are still bottom, 18 points behind today's opponents. Llangefni and Llandudno shared the points in a 1-1 draw at Talwrn Road, Ricky Higham snatching a last-gasp equaliser for the Anglesey hosts.
