More twists and turns at Welshpool
Thursday 13 January 2011
MaesydreWELSHPOOL'S season has taken another dramatic twist following the resignation of chairman Michael Dawkins and his son, Nigel, as vice chairman.
Neither has given a reason for their departure and the club has said that the posts are not likely to be filled in the near future.
It follows a chaotic four months which has seen two managers resign and the club deducted 18 points for several offences to leave them bottom of the Huws Gray Alliance.
"Michael and Nigel Dawkins have tendered their resignation as chairman and vice-chairman respectively," says a statement from Maesydre.
"Neither wish to make their reasons for standing down public, but we feel it is important to stress that there has been no falling out between anyone at the club and both intend to remain involved with the side on a match day as they have previously."
Meanwhile, after withdrawing from the Central Wales Cup last week, the club has now been reinstated after a change of heart and opponents Tregaron Turfs have been ordered to play the tie by the regional FA.
"After a conversation with (management team) Chris and Benji - who we didn't consult when we withdrew as we just assumed they'd not want additional fixtures - they expressed an eagerness to compete in the competition," says general manager Liam Pritchard.
