RHYL confirmed to supporters at a meeting on Thursday night that promotion back to the Welsh Premier is out of the question this season. An on-going Inland Revenue review was the single issue that prevented the licence from being granted at the end of last season and, as the FAW require no outstanding issues at the end of December in the year of application, the Lillies can't progress with this year's licensing process. A statement from the club says: "Rhyl FC have been awaiting a final review from the Inland Revenue of the submitted paperwork in order to outline what the outstanding position might be. "There has been no adjudication up to this point and any speculation surrounding the amount owed is purely that - speculation. "It is believed that several pieces of information are still outstanding from former players to help clarify the situation. Rhyl FC have co-operated fully with the Inland Revenue team." Rhyl say that the club will need to adjust the budgets which were set at the start of the season to achieve the goal of winning the Huws Grays Alliance which is still "very much a target". "This is one of the reasons that John Leah was allowed to leave for Airbus. Other players may leave in the coming weeks, but that decision is down to manager Greg Strong and the board to discuss," adds the statement. Chairman Paul Higginson indicated that an original plan to move the ownership and control of the club into the hands of the supporters will be carried out once the financial issues are resolved. |
