PACESETTERS Gap Connah's Quay extended their lead at the top of the Huws Gray Alliance in a five-goal affair at bottom club Welshpool, who are managed by ex-Nomads' favourite Chris Herbert.A sixth successive victory saw the visitors extend their lead to five points over Rhyl, who were involved in the Welsh Cup. Substitute James McIntosh scored twice late in the game to clinch the spoils in a Maesydre quagmire. Another ex-Nomad, Gary Pinch had given Town the lead with only a quarter hour remaining after Nathan Mapletoft had cancelled out player/manager Mark McGregor's first half opener. Stuart Fraser netted a hat-trick as Penwhyncoch beat Flint Town United 3-1 at Cae Baker, Simon Thelwell noching a stoppage-time consolation for the visitors. A Marc Evans brace helped Llangefni Town overcome Buckley 3-1 at Talwrn Road, while Porthmadog gained a much-needed victory, 4-0 at home to Rhydymwyn, James McDaid, Gareth Owen, Darren Gowans and Paul Roberts on target for the Traeth outfit. |
