Tuesday 22 February 2011
Druids v WelshpoolTHIRD-placed Cefn Druids moved within seven points of Rhyl with a nervy 2-1 home win over Technogroup Welshpool at The Rock on Tuesday night.
The Ancients, who have two games in hand on the Lilywhites, led 2-0 at half time, but the visitors pulled a goal back after 73 minutes to set-up a tense finale.
The hosts took a 27th-minute lead when keeper Dave Jones spilled Matty Hurdman's driven cross and Andrew Swarbrick was on hand to net from close range.
Six minutes later the advantage was doubled after the Welshpool defence failed to clear their lines from a corner and an unmarked Luke Powell netted from 12 yards.
But 'Pool responded when a free-kick was cleared only as far as Josh Evans, who drove a shot through a crowded box into the far corner.
in the night's other games, Rhos Aelwyd were 3-2 winners at Buckley's Globe Way with a brace from Mike Burke and one from Matt Hayes,
Ross Frame scored a hat-trick, including two from the penalty spot, as Guilsfield won the central Wales derby 4-2 at Penrhyncoch
