GAP Connah's Quay returned to domestic action after their cup exploits and to the top of the Huws Gray Alliance with a 5-0 Tuesday night thumping of Ruthin Town at the Deeside Stadium. There was little to choose between the sides in the first half with Ben Collins giving Nomads a 27th-minute lead. But leading marksman Gary O'Toole (pictured) grabbed two more goals taking his league tally to 20 for the season. The first came from the penalty spot just past the hour mark and late efforts from Sam McNutt and 16-year-old George Baxter completed the rout. Welshpool's mini-revival has come to an end with a third straight defeat, this time at home to Rhos Aelwyd. Mike Burke put the Wrexham visitors in front on 66 minutes, with Chris Melia replying, but Dave McIntyre sealed the win for Steve Walters' side - who go fourth in the table - on 76 minutes. Guilsfield snatched a stoppage time equaliser through Rob Cookson to held Buckley Town to a mid-table 2-2 draw at Globe Way. Jack Delgado got the Bucks off to flier in the fourth minute, before Ross Frame levelled from the penalty spot on the half-hour. Wes Brereton's third goal in two games looked to have handed the spoils to the hosts before Cookson's late heartbreaker in the 95th-minute. |
