TECHNOGROUP Welshpool manager Chris Herbert has denied rumours linking him with a move to Huws Gray Alliance rivals Flint Town United.

Despite the looming threat of relegation at Maesydre, the former Connah's Quay striker (pictured) insists he remains committed to the cause of keeping the club in the Huws Gray Alliance.

"I am loving the challenge at Welshpool and although it is a great compliment to be linked to a great club like Flint Town United there is no truth to it," said Herbert.

"The rumours have been doing the rounds in the past few weeks but I have heard nothing from Deeside and at the end of the day I have a job to do at Welshpool."

"We need six wins to survive, it is do or die in terms of us staying up and we need to get another 18 points on the board to have a chance.

"We have eight game to do so and I can assure supporters that we as players and coaches are doing everything to ensure that we do stay up."

Pool could be destined for the Spar Mid Wales League if they fail to beat Rhydymwyn next weekend, but Herbert has revealed his affection for the club after his appointment as manager earlier in the season.

"I know Maesydre is not a ground many people enjoy playing at, but for me it was always a favourite and I get a great buzz from being involved with this club.

“Obviously this season has been a nightmare in terms of point deductions and off the field problems, but I genuinely believe that this club can be great again if we can get our house in order during the summer.”
