THE top seven sides in the Huws Gray Alliance were all victorious to leave Rhyl leading Gap Connah's Quay by three points in the race for the title. The Lilywhites got a flying start with a second-minute Russ Courtney goal at Guilsfield, but had to wait until 10 minutes from time for Mark Cadwallader to score the decisive second. Nomads maintained the pressure with a 2-1 win at Penrhyncoch's Cae Baker, prolific marksman Gary O'Toole (pictured) scoring twice within five minutes after Josh Shaw had given the hosts a 25th-minute lead. Three players got their marching orders at The Rock as Cefn Druids prevailed over Caersws, Robbie James and Warren Duckett on target for the Ancients. A 63rd-minute tackle by Druids' Luke Powell on Gareth Sudlow sparked a melee which resulted in Powell's second dismissal of the week, followed by red cards for the Bluebirds' Geraint Lewis and skipper Graham Jones. Fifth-placed Flint were also reduced to nine men but still won 2-0 at Llangefni Town with goals from Simon Thelwell and Shaun Beck, while Llandudno hit Ruthin Town for six, Lee Thomas notching a brace in a 6-1 win at Maesdu Park. Porthmadog won an eight goal affair against Rhayader Town at the Wierglodd, with a brace from Carl Owen and further goals from Craig Roberts, Marcus Orlik and Rhys Roberts. John Rush and Mike Burke fired Rhos Aelwyd to a 2-0 home win over Buckley Town, while Welshpool kept their slim survival hopes alive, seeing-off Rhydymwyn 3-0 at Maesydre with goals from the returning Calvin Davies, Chris Melia and Dave Swanick. |
