ALLEGED mistaken identity means inspirational Connah's Quay skipper Craig Jones will miss the Welsh Cup semi-final showdown with Bangor. The midfielder, known as "Tigger", was attributed with what proved to be a 10th yellow card for the season which carries an automatic two-match ban. "The captain is suspended and there’s been a bit of controversy over it," team-mate and defender Tom Baker told the Flintshire Chronicle. "Against Penrhyncoch a couple of weeks ago, the referee booked one of our players, Jamie Petrie, in the 38th minute and must have written his number down wrong in his book. "So even though Craig didn’t get booked, the referee reported that he did and he’s going to miss the game. "I travel with Craig and he’s absolutely devastated. Connah’s Quay appealed the decision but the referee is now adamant that it was him. He missed Saturday’s game and will be out this weekend." Experienced campaigner Baker, who is in his fourth season with the Nomads and recently made his 100th appearance added: "Everyone’s upbeat. We’ve got to be confident and everybody’s in good form. I know Bangor have had a bit of a blip lately and the pressure’s on them more so than us. "Whenever we played them in the Premier League last season, we held our own against them and their team hasn’t changed drastically so if everyone does their job and we stick to our game plan, we should have chance." Quay only lost their Welsh Premier status last season and City boss Nev Powell - who managed the club for 14 years - knows it won't be a pushover. "Saturday will be the ideal opportunity to get back to winning ways, but it will be far from easy," he told the Bangor Mail. "I watched Nomads win 4-0 at Rhos Aelwyd on Saturday and was very impressed. They are still in effect a Welsh Premier team as they’ve kept the same players as last season. "Things haven’t been going so well for us in the league of late, but we’ve got to keep our chins up and hopefully a win on Saturday can inspire us to win our last four league games."
