GAP Connah's Quay were handed the advantage in the race for the Huws Gray Alliance title after rivals Rhyl went down to a shock 4-2 home defeat at the hands of fifth-placed Rhos Aelwyd. Chris Williams opened the home side's account on 23 minutes, with Steve Powell levelling for the visitors. A Mark Cadwallader goal put the Lilywhites ahead once again, but goals from Mike Burke, Andy Torrence and Jon Rush sealed the win, with the home side missing a penalty. The Nomads are three points behind Rhyl with two games in hand. Guilsfield won local bragging rights after beating near neighbours Welshpool 2-1, Ross Frame and Mark Davies scoring for the villagers and Jack Pickering for 'Pool. Struggling Rhayader Town were drawing 2-2 with Penrhyncoch when a floodlight failure at the Wierglodd caused the game to be abandoned. |
