Management duo to remain at Welshpool
Tuesday 26 April 2011
Chris HerbertTECHNOGROUP Welshpool have revealed that manager Chris Herbert and his assistant Benji Evans are to remain at the club next season following their relegation to the Mid Wales League.
Having joined the club in November following a disastrous start to life in the Cymru Alliance which brought an 18 point deduction, the former Connah's Quay striker (pictured) "has worked tirelessly to reverse the club’s fortunes and rebuild its shattered reputation", says a statement from Maesydre.
"Under extremely difficult circumstances he excelled himself by drastically improving performances and on field discipline, over turning the deficit to finish the season in positive figures.
"Evans has been with the club all season and took caretaker charge of the first team on two occasions and was instrumental in holding the team together during a very turbulent period."
Outgoing club secretary, Liam Pritchard says: "We’re thrilled Herbie and Benji have chosen to remain at Maesydre. They both wanted to stay above all else and finish the job that they have started here - and we are glad to have them."
Pritchard added that rumours the club's sponsors Technogroup would not be fulfilling their commitments to the club this season are "categorically false".
He says: "I've been in contact with Technogroup over the past few weeks to discuss the matter and we have reached an agreement whereby the remaining sponsorship money will be paid in full that we as a club are delighted with."
