CELEBRATIONS were muted at the Deeside Stadium as Gap Connah's Quay were presented with the Huws Gray Alliance trophy ahead of their final game of the season. The gloss has been taken away from the club's championship-winning campaign by the FAW's decision to reject the Nomads' application for a domestic licence, denying them a return to the Welsh Premier. Quay beat Rhydymwyn 5-0 to finish nine points clear at the top ahead of second-placed Rhyl, Ben Alston heading them into an early lead. Prolific marksman Gary O'Toole added another from the penalty spot after Ben Collins had been brought down in the box, and Jamie Petrie made it three on the stroke of half-time. Danny Forde and Collins then completed the rout late in the second half. Relegated Rhayader signed-off with a fourth win of the season, 3-2 at home to Penrhyncoch with two goals from ex-TNS youth Mike Collister.
