LLANRHAEADR will take their place in the Huws Gray Alliance next season after the FAW overturned a controversial league decision. The village club were delivered a massive blow after winning the Mid Wales League title only to be told their facilities were not good enough to play in the second tier of Welsh football for the first time in their history. But the dream is back on track after the FAW intervened last night and overturned the decision. The club has been informed unofficially and can now plan for its first campaign in the league. The row started following an end of season pitch inspection by Alliance officials who decided that Llanrhaeadr’s ground was not suitable, flagging up the fact that they did not have enough covered spectator areas. However, the club took a picture of fans standing under their pavilion which, they claim, can accommodate more than the required number and it is believed that the photograph was a decisive factor in last night’s appeal. But one club’s gain is another club’s pain as Berriew will now have to face up to life for a second season in the Mid Wales League - they would have been allowed to go up as runners-up had Llanrhaeadr not been successful.
