| Broken leg woe for Carl Owen |
| Saturday 06 August 2011 |
PORTHMADOG suffered a blow in midweek with a serious injury to Carl Owen, whose leg was broken in a tackle at Holyhead. The striker returned to The Traeth in February from Airbus UK Broughton, where he scored 15 goals over nearly two seasons from 42 Welsh Premier appearances. Owen first emerged in the domestic top flight with Bangor City, joining from Glantraeth in the summer of 2000, but found his Welsh Premier opportunities limited and moved to Porthmadog, where he was top scorer for three consecutive seasons. He also won Welsh semi-professional honours, scoring in the victory over England in the summer of 2004. Voted player of the season at The Traeth in season 2007/8, he transferred to Rhyl in July 2008. But his first team opportunities were limited at Belle Vue and he moved to Airbus in June 2009. Photo: Carl Owen on the ball for Airbus against Haverfordwest last season. |
