CAERSWS face the prospect of a points deduction after being caught up in a transfer controversy.Striker Scott Quigley made his debut on-loan from The New Saints earlier this month in a 2-1 defeat at Flint but, along with fellow TNS loanee Sean Ellis, was withdrawn from the squad to face Guilsfield last weekend after the Bluebirds were told the players' registrations were incomplete. Club secretary Gareth Lloyd says Caersws will contest any decision to deduct points: "The transfer forms were faxed to the league secretary as requested and, as such, were time dated," Lloyd says. However, Huws Gray Alliance secretary Chas Rowland was on holiday and Quigley was not registered in time to play. "We were informed of the situation by TNS so we took the immediate decision to withdraw the players," Lloyd added. Rowland says: "If the club has a case to answer then the club will be called into question as per league rules. "When the player involved was previously registered with another club, it is necessary for that club to confirm similarly the transfer and/or release of the players." Meanwhile, The New Saints' director of football Mike Davies has written to the HGA asking them to show leniency to Caersws in view of the circumstances.
