ARGUABLY the biggest game in the Huws Gray Alliance this weekend is on Sunday, when second-placed Rhyl host fourth-placed Porthmadog.Both have a game in hand on leaders Gap Connah's Quay, who were comfortable 3-0 winners at Penrhyncoch, with goals from Danny Forde, Mike Robinson and player-manager Mark McGregor (pictured). Third-placed Buckley Town were held to a 2-2 draw at lowly Ruthin, and needed a last-gasp goal from Mike Burke to claim a point after keeper Jamie Hulse had saved a penalty. Flint claimed a 2-1 Friday night win at Conwy United to stay fifth thanks to goals from Shaun Beck and Jordon Brierley, as Cefn Druids were going down to a shock 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Caersws. Mark Griffiths had given the Bluebirds a 13th-minute lead which was cancelled out four minutes later by Matty Hurdman, but Neil Mitchell grabbed an 88th-minute winner for Mickey Evans's side. New boss Adie Jones took charge of bottom club Llangefni Town, who went down 1-0 at home to a goal from the evergreen Danny Barton for Guilsfield. Penycae continued their improvement with a 3-2 win at fellow promoted club Llanrhaeadr, Ian Andrews snatching an 88th-minute winner, while Rhos Aelwyd drew 0-0 at home to Llandudno. |
