GAP Connah's Quay extended their lead at the top of the Huws Gray Alliance to seven points at the weekend. But, with two of their chief rivals Rhyl and Buckley engaged in Welsh Cup ties, the Nomads failed to take full advantage as they could only draw 2-2 at lowly Llanrhaeadr. The visitors twice took the lead through prolific marksman Gary O'Toole and Jamie Petrie, only to be pegged back on both occasions by goals from Jamie Evans and, in stoppage time, Matt Evans. Porthmadog were the main benificiaries as they climbed into third place courtesy of a 2-1 home win over Guilsfield at The Traeth. Darren Thomas put Port in front, with Craig Roberts claiming a 50th-minute winner after Ian Probert had levelled for the villagers. Caersws halted their slide with a 2-2 draw at Penycae, thanks to a Graham Evans penalty and Neil Mitchell's goal five minutes after the break. Goals from Ian Williams and Mike Latham had earlier put the home side 2-1 in front. In the only other league game played, Ruthin Town shared a goal-less draw at home to bottom club Rhos Aelwyd.
