BALA Town could clinch promotion to the Welsh Premier this weekend. The Cymru Alliance leaders need another five points to take the crown as they head for a Friday night showdown with second-placed Llangefni at Talwrn Road. Their next league game is at Gresford Athletic on April 18 but, if Holyhead fail to beat Mold Alexandra on Saturday, the Maes Tegid outfit could be celebrating early. Hotspur are the only danger to Bala's title hopes but, even though they have four games in hand on their rivals, they trail by 20 points and need to win all their remaining games. Currently on an 11-match unbeaten run, Bala boss Colin Caton hopes that his side win the league through their own results, rather than a slip-up by opponents. "In an ideal world I would like to win at Llangefni and at Gresford," he says, admitting that Friday's game won't be easy. "It's going to be difficult, they're the only team to beat us his season." Firm favourites to make their debut in the top flight, Bala's recent ground improvements at Maes Tegid include floodlights and new seating which brings the picturesque venue well within Welsh Premier ground criteria.
