LLANGEFNI are clear at the top of the Cymru Alliance following Friday night's 5-1 hammering of Mold Alex at Talwrn Road.Leading scorer Darren Thomas and Graham Austin (pictured) both grabbed a brace alongside an own goal from Steve McGowan, Darren Pritchard netting from the penalty spot for the visitors. Previous joint leaders Penrhyncoch were beaten 5-0 at Llandudno's Maesdu Park with Danny Hughes, Craig Hogg and Gareth Evans putting the home side 3-0 up within the first 12 minutes. Flint Town United are in third place after a 7-2 win at Guilsfield, Shaun Beck leading the way with a brace, while Lex XI went fifth after a 3-1 away win at Llangollen, who had Simon Smith red-carded before Richard Jones gave them the lead on the half-hour. Kevin Roberts, Danny Powell and Rene Pinard secured the points, but both sides had men sent-off late-on, Kevin Edwards for Llan and Joe Garner for the Lawmen. New Caernarfon management duo Derek Roberts and Mel Jones won their first game in charge, 3-1 at home to Berriew. There was only one game in the Welsh League Division One, Goytre United drawing 0-0 at home to Ton Pentre. |
