Relish junior takes over at Caerleon

LEE Relish has been appointed the new manager of Welsh League Division One outfit Caerleon after Brendan Dowd stepped down.
The towering former central defender, assistant Nicky Davies and coach Mike Powell are all part of a four-strong committee running the entire MacWhirter Welsh League club.
The trio have all resigned from dug-out duties, but will remain with the Cold Bath Road outfit - Dowd as physio, Davies as youth-team coach and Powel in an as-yet-unspecified role.
Relish has been at Caerleon since quitting as player-manager of Southern League outfit Cinderford Town last February.
At Cinderford, Relish’s assistant was much-travelled central defender-striker Jason Price, who now becomes the new manager’s number two again with midfielder Todd Quarterly the coach.
"We have been pondering when was the best time to stand aside and allow Lee to take over and after last Saturday’s 4-0 defeat at Taffs Well, we decided to start the ball rolling," said Dowd.
"I haven’t been sacked because it is only us three and Dave Griffiths who are running things here and the good news now for Lee is he will have the support of us all.
"We didn’t have anyone helping us out here on match-days and as a result, our efforts also had to be channelled into other duties such as putting the nets up, making sure the pitch is marked out and other general duties.
"Lee and his team won’t have to worry about any of that and we wish them all the very best for the rest of the season."
Relish is the son of twice former Newport County chief John Relish.
