ABERAMAN have performed a U-turn and decided to appeal against the FAW's decision to reject their bid for promotion to the Welsh Premier.
"The club can confirm that they are launching an appeal against the decision to deny us entry into the Welsh Premier League and have delivered the cheque to the FAW offices this evening," says a statement. Welsh League champions Aberaman failed to meet the Welsh Premier's ground-grading deadline at the end of April and, despite completing all necessary work at Aberaman Park by late May, failed in their appeal to the governing body. A committee meeting last Monday decided not to seek arbitration, leading to the resignation of manager Dai Morgan - also sales and marketing director of ENTO - who ended a four-year sponsorship deal at the same time. Morgan accused the club of "lack of ambition" saying: "It would have cost £410 to take the case to arbitration and I believed we could win and take our rightful place in the Welsh Premier. "I am on the club management committee, but I was not able to attend the meeting because I was away in London on business. "I had heard rumours that there was not much appetite to take our appeal further and then I received a message while I was asleep telling me what the decision was. It’s sad, but this has been coming for some time." Aberaman's surprise about-turn could cause promotion and relegation confusion right down the pyramid and delay the announcement of the Welsh Premier fixture list for next season until the matter is resolved. Caersws only survived in the top flight after finishing 17th because Aberaman's bid for promotion failed. ![]() |
