Striker Small joins the Dragons
Friday 18 September 2009
STRIKER Sam Small has left Zamaretto League Premier Division club Clevedon Town to rejoin Welsh League Division One outfit Barry Town.
Small joined Port Talbot Town in 2005 from Cinderford Town, later signing for Cwmbran from Welsh League outfit UWIC.
He moved to Llanelli in the summer of 2007 and has also played for Penrhiwfer and Taffs Well in the Welsh League.
"Sam wanted a guaranteed place in the team, which I couldn't give him and so, when Barry put in seven days, we decided it was best he moved on," said Clevedon boss Nick Tucker, who managed Small at both the Steelmen and Taffs Well.
The striker scored seven goals from 15 (+24) appearances in the Welsh Premier.
Meanwhile, Weston-super-Mare have released former Barry midfielder Leon Jeanne after he failed to achieve the level of fitness required for the Blue Square South.
A former Cardiff City and QPR trainee, Jeanne made 12 (+10) appearances in the top flight for Barry and Port Talbot.
He has recently been on loan at Welsh League side Maesteg Park.
