TWO goals from Danny Cueto and another by Dale Clark earned relegation-threatened Caerleon a shock 3-1 Welsh League success against Barry Town at Jenner Park on Tuesday night. The home side rallied by netting in the last few minutes, but the visitors held on for only their third victory of the season, but their second in four days following last Saturday’s 3-2 home triumph over Bryntirion Athletic. However the win fails to move manager Lee Relish’s men off the foot of the table, although they could achieve that this Saturday if they beat hosts West End and other results go their way. West End slid deeper into relegation trouble following a 4-2 defeat at Ely Rangers but the West Enders, who were well in contention on 2-2 early in the second half, finished the game with just nine men. Alex Chrysanthou shot the Swansea side ahead at Station Road, but two goals from Matthew Hibbs gave Ely a 2-1-interval lead. However, just a minute into the second half, Jonathan Eames levelled, and West End seemed well set. But Hibbs went on to complete a hat-trick while Dan Hooper was also on target for the Cardiff side, who remain one off bottom. |
