Lido profit as rivals slip
Sunday 11 April 2010
Chris SummersAFAN Lido were the main beneficiaries of the weekend's action in the Welsh League as leaders Goytre United dropped points in a 1-1 draw at Pontardawe Town.
Three clubs now trail Goytre by five points - Lido, Caldicot and Bryntirion - as the title race enters its final weeks.
Goytre took the lead after half an hour through prolific ex-Welsh Premier marksman Chris Summers (pictured), but were reduced to 10 men in the 75th minute following the dismissal of Scott Kenyon for handling on the goal line.
Ponty's Mark Napieralla saw his spot-kick well saved by Christopher Curtis, but the hosts levelled in the 82nd minute through Carl Owen, and then had a Jonathan Coates strike ruled out for offside.
Afan Lido scraped a 1-0 win over Ton Pentre at the Marston Stadium thanks to a goal from Mark Jones.
Caldicot were held to a 2-2 draw at Cardiff Corries, while Bryntirion lost 2-0 at home to Taffs Well.
