| Wednesday 05 May 2010 |
AFAN Lido's hopes of clinching the Welsh League title sustained a major blow on Wednesday night as they went down 2-1 to West End, who all but guaranteed their place in Division One next season.Lido took the lead on the quarter hour with a goal from former Llanelli frontman Mark Jones (pictured), his 14th of the season, but the Swansea hosts equalised on through Kieran Cullen 30 minutes after a mistake by the visitors' defence. West End's winner came in the 77th-minute as Cullen completed a brace and Welsh Premier promotion hopefuls Lido remain just one point ahead of Saturday's opponents - third-placed Cambrian & Clydach - both having played the same number of games. In Wednesday night's other games there were 4-0 away wins for Cardiff Corries at Ely Rangers and Garden Village at Ton Pentre's Ynys Park. Caerleon went down 3-1 at home to Pontardawe Town. |
