| Croesy stun Goyts in League Cup |

CROESYCEILIOG overcame the odds to lift the Nathaniel Car Sales League Cup at Bridgend Town's Brewery Field. The Welsh League Division Two outfit overcame champions Goytre United, who were seeking a third cup triumph in six years. Both sides were without cup-tied players, the Gwent side missing Gareth Davies, Dominic Broad and Jay Davies, while the Welsh Premier's second leading scorer of all-time, Chris Summers, missed out for the Goyts along with Darren Griffiths. After an incident-free opening half an hour, the game burst into life with a couple of goals inside a minute. First Jody Jenkins side-footed home from an acute angle before United levelled when striker Richard Ryan ignored calls for hand-ball to fire home. Croesyceiliog missed a marvellous chance to go ahead just two minutes after the restart when midfielder Callum Miles headed wide when it appeared far easier to have scored. But the eventual winners shrugged off the disappointment to forge ahead for the second time when Richard Perry hit a magnificent 25-yarder past goalkeeper Chris Curtis on 57 minutes. And Croesyceiliog wrapped up the victory with a third goal eight minutes from time when Rhys Carr hit a shot from fully 45 yards out on the touchline and beyond the back-peddling Curtis.
