AFAN Lido took over at the top of the Welsh League on Friday night with a 1-0 home win over reigning champions Goytre United. New signings Jonathan Kift and Karl Lewis were in Lido's starting line-up but it was sub Nathan White who broke the deadlock on 64 minutes, when the Goyts failed to clear a Jonathan Hood free-kick. Craig Hanford also found the net for the hosts, heading home from Sam Small's free-kick, but the effort was ruled-out for offside. On saturday, West End moved into the top half of the table with a 4-2 home win over Cwmbran Celtic, Rory Smitham scoring twice for the Swansea outfit alongside goals from Luke Chapple and Chris Hall. Anthony Magi and Marcus Lewis goals gave Caerau Ely a 2-0 victory at Pontardawe Town, while Cardiff Corries and Caldicot fought out a goalless draw. |
