Gavin ChesterfieldFEARS that seven-times Welsh Premier champions Barry Town would be pulled out of the Macwhirter Welsh League have eased after a meeting in the town last night.
Supporters were told that owner Stuart Lovering has agreed to drop a demand for £10,000 to keep the club afloat before the league AGM next weekend and will instead accept a bond to cover the fine if the club is forced to resign mid-season.
Talks are also believed to be underway between Lovering and a potential buyer.
Meanwhile, a supporters' committee aims to continue raising money to fund the team throughout the season with the target of £10,000 to survive the whole campaign.
Manager Gavin Chesterfield is contacting players, arranging pre-season friendlies and has also obtained training faciliities.
The committee, which has mounted an intensive Twitter campaign to save the Dragons over the past few weeks, is still seeking sponsorship and fans can also contribute a monthly amount by standing order.
Last month, Lovering announced that the club was being offered for sale with a £125k down payment and further instalments of £2k per month for three years.
