CAMBRIAN AND CLYDACH’S position at the top of the Welsh League was strengthened with an emphatic 7-1 victory at Caerau Ely whose recent poor run continues. The ever-consistent Jason Bertorelli was again among the goals for the Rhondda club. Meanwhile second placed West End were surprisingly held to a 1-1 draw by Cwmaman Institute in Swansea, so that allowed the Rhondda outfit to open up a six-point gap over their nearest rivals. Bridgend Town's 2-2 Thursday night home draw with Aberaman Athletic was enough to maintain third place, but Cwmbran Celtic are breathing down their necks in fourth following a 1-0 home win over AFC Porth. Reigning champions Bryntirion Athletic crashed 1-0 at home to Pontardawe Town, while Ton Pentre held Goytre United 2-2 on their own Glenhafod Park. Haverfordwest County won 2-0 at Cardiff Corries with goals from Jonathan Kift and Nicky Woodrow, while Barry Town went down 2-1 at home to Taffs Well.
