James quits County after just two months
Thursday 24 November 2011
Leighton JamesLEIGHTON James has resigned as director of football with Haverfordwest County after less than two months at the helm.
The former Wales international has walked out on the Bluebirds, who have struggled in Welsh League Division One since relegation from the Welsh Premier at the end of last season.
"It’s an embarrassing situation for all concerned, it has not worked out and now the club is determined to move on and consolidate their position in Welsh League Division One," says club director David Hughes.
“We tried to work with him, but he clearly didn’t want to work with us.
“His tenure was short and now we will resume with Mickey Ellis and Wayne Jones in charge for the rest of the season.”
James was sent from the dugout last Saturday as his side crashed 2-0 at Goytre United, who are managed by former Bridge Meadow boss Derek Brazil.
After joining County, James said: "I'm really looking forward to a challenge, the club has had a bad start to the season.
"I'm coming in to try and restore confidence in the players, and try and get their season back on track.
"I want the fans to be patient, things don't happen over night as it takes time to build a good team. That's the main objective - to make improvements and develop things at the club."
