| ENTO Aberaman look the only threat |
| Saturday 07 March 2009 |
BETTWS joined Barry Town as joint leaders of the MacWhirter Welsh League Division One after a 2-1 win over Croesyceiliog, while the former Welsh Premier champions were conceding a late equaliser away to Bryntirion. The visitors had taken the lead with a Michael Parkins shot but, when former Carmarthen defender Damon Searle conceded a penalty in the 92nd-minute, Tom Wellington made no mistake from the spot. Goytre United, who have three games in hand, recovered from a midweek defeat at Ton Pentre to move menacingly within a point of the leading duo, following a 3-1 win at bottom club Newport YMCA. None of the current top three has Welsh Premier promotion ambitions, and fourth-placed ENTO Aberaman - who have played five games less than the leaders - remain the only threat to dislodging the club that finishes 17th in the top flight at the end of the season. Ex-Aberystwyth frontman Geraint Passmore (pictured) was on target as ENTO beat Caerleon 2-1, with Richard Ryan grabbing the winner. |
