Goyts bid for top spot
Saturday 14 March 2009
John Lewis GOYTRE United can go top of the Welsh League with victory over leaders Bettws.
The reigning champions are currently in third spot, but with four games in hand on Saturday's opponents and second-placed Barry, who are without a game.
Four points behind Goytre with a game in hand, ENTO Aberaman bid to strengthen their Welsh Premier promotion bid when they entertain Afan Lido, who are fresh from a 4-1 win over Bridgend Town in the League Cup semi-final.
Relegated from the top flight two seasons ago, Cwmbran Town are in danger of slipping into Division Two.
Gwent quartet Cwmbran, Croesyceiliog, Newport YMCA and Caerleon make up the entire bottom four and with three scheduled to go down, a win for 11th-placed Caldicot over visiting Taffs Well would give their neighbours a boost.
The Crows, who lost to Caerleon 3-1 at home on Wednesday, are not in action.
