Dimond returns with the Quins
Tuesday 07 July 2009
KRISTIAN Dimond is back in football with Cardiff Bay Harlequins - formerly Grange Quins - who have just changed their name ahead of the new MacWhirter Welsh League Division Two season.
Still only 26, former Cardiff City and Crystal Palace midfielder Dimond was a youth player for five years under Peter Nicholas at Palace, leaving Selhurst Park toward the end of the 2001/2 season.
He switched back to Cardiff before the end of the season before linking up again with Nicholas at Newport County. Dimond signed for Welling United in September 2003 but returned to Wales with Cwmbran Town in November 2003, moving to Port Talbot in November 2005, and scored five goals in 67 Welsh Premier appearances, later playing for Merthyr Tydfil.
“He has his hunger back for playing football,” says Quins' boss Gavin Price.
