| Hitman Summers to join Bridgend Town |
| Sunday 26 July 2009 |
SECOND on the Welsh Premier's all-time goal scorers list, Chris Summers is poised to sign for ambitious Bridgend Town. Summers (pictured), who played a leading part in Aberaman's championship win last season, scored 177 goals from 243 top flight appearances for Cwmbran, Inter Cardiff, Ton Pentre, Carmarthen, Haverfordwest and Grange Quins. Bridgend have already signed leading goalkeeper Neil Collins from Aberaman, which is expected to lead to the release from the Brewery Field of Brendan Cropley, who had Welsh Premier experience with Afan Lido back in season 2003/4. Also arriving at the Exiles is Atif Bashir, who has appeared in the Welsh Premier with Lido, the Quins and Haverfordwest and has won international honours with Pakistan. Brewery Field head coach Dave Adams also has a new assistant in Craig Lima, who made more than one hundred starts for Inter Cabletel/UWIC, Ebbw Vale, Port Talbot, Carmarthen and Grange Quins during his domestic league career. |
