Pulis advice spurs Druids to victory
Sunday 13 September 2009
Tony Pulis LEE Jones admitted he was both 'pleased and relieved' after seeing his Elements Cefn Druids' charges gain their first points of the season with victory over Porthmadog on Friday night.
And the club's joint manager revealed that advice from Stoke City boss Tony Pulis had helped his cause.
"I was away on a Pro-Licence cause last week and spoke to Tony Pulis about the situation we were in and he said that only hard work will get you out of it.
"He gave me a few other bits of advice which we've been trying to put in place at training and can continue to work on now that we have a couple of free midweeks.
"We had worked on the mental side of things and, each to a man, the work ethic against Porthmadog was fantastic. But if I'd gone in afterwards and said we had played well it would have been papering over the cracks.
"But, hopefully, the game will be a change in fortune for us. It is, though, a step in the right direction and has taken us off the bottom of the table."
